Criminal Statistics
According to data published by the Louisiana Statistical Analysis Center for 2017, there were 713 index crime offenses. Larceny-theft constituted 60% of the total reports received in the year. This was followed by incidents of burglary and motor vehicle theft. Aggravated assault was recorded to be the fourth most reported crime, and the most recurring of all violent crimes, accounting for 7.99% of all the criminal acts committed.
Criminal Records
The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office is tasked with performing crime-management and public-safety related functions in the Parish. This includes generating and maintaining a variety of records and reports pertaining to criminal activity. However, all requests for criminal records are processed by the Louisiana State Police Department which serves as the primary custodian of criminal history information of persons residing within state limits, including Bossier Parish. Thus, requests for Bossier Parish criminal records may be directed to the State Police.
How to Get Criminal Records
The State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information is primarily concerned with maintaining records of misdemeanor and felony arrests, conviction and incarceration information of Louisiana state residents. To obtain Bossier Parish criminal records, interested persons may query the Bureau via mail or by processing an Internet Background Check.
Mail-in requests require the requestor to complete and submit the appropriate request form stating the personal information of the subject and the purpose of the request. The request form must be used in conjunction with a General Disclosure Form or a Rap Disclosure form depending on the authority of the requesting party.

On the other hand, internet background checks may be conducted using the Louisiana Computerized Criminal History System. The requesting party is required to register and receive login information with which to access the system and then proceed to self-serve by searching the database using the personal information of the subject. The system may also be used to submit fingerprint-based criminal background check requests, which require the requestor to visit any of the Bureau approved livescan vendors.
How to Get Police Reports
The Records Section of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office maintains a database of written narratives for incidents responded to by deputies. These reports, known as offense reports, may be obtained by members of the public. Interested persons may obtain these reports by querying the Parish Courthouse during office hours. Requestors will be required to provide information regarding the incident including the name of the parties involved, the place and date of the occurrence and the name of the attending deputy. How to find Sex Offender Information
The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office maintains a Sex Offender Locator which may be used to view the addresses of sex offenders resident within Parish limits. Detailed information regarding offenders may be obtained using the Louisiana State Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry. Parish residents may view the location, compliance status and identifiers of registered offenders as well as submit tips or make offender-related queries using the registry. Offenders may be searched by name, date of birth, registration number or by their proximity to specific locations within the Parish or state.
Where and How to Get Inmate Information
The Bossier Medium and Maximum Security Facilities are managed by the Sheriffs Office which is charged with disseminating information regarding the jails as well as their resident detainees. Information regarding a specific inmate's location, primary charge, booking details and bail/bond conditions can be retrieved using the Inmate Search Tool. Where and how to Get Court Records & Property Records
The Bossier Parish Clerk of Court is the primary administrator of Bossier Parish courts and is tasked with managing and disseminating records of court cases heard within its jurisdiction.
The Clerks Recording Department also records and maintains documents pertaining to land or real property ownership including mortgage documents, land records, deeds, plats, and liens.
All records may be obtained by querying the office in person or by using the Clerk Connect Online Portal which houses record of civil and criminal cases as well as recorded documents.
To obtain a court record the requestor will be required to know and furnish the court staff or online portal with details of the case in question. Record searches typically require the names of the parties involved, the date the case was filed, the case file number (if known) as well as the names of the litigant and witness(es).
Similarly, property record requests require that the requestor provide information regarding the property and its owner including the grantor/grantee name, the property address and its recording number and date. Vital Records
The Louisiana State Registrar & Vital Records Office is the central repository of records of births, deaths, and marriages that occur in the state of Louisiana. The office processes requests for these records. At the Parish level, interested persons may request and obtain marriage and divorce records from the office of the Bossier Parish Clerk of Courts; However, all requests for birth and death records must be made to the state's vital records office.
Where and how to Get Divorce Records
The Bossier Parish Clerk of Court maintains records of divorces granted by the Parish courts. Divorce certificates are public record and can be obtained by interested members of the public upon request. To obtain a divorce record, requests must be made to the Clerk's office in person or via mail. This requires that the requestor provide information regarding the divorce including the names of the spouses, the date and place of the divorce as well as the case file number of the record.

Where and how to Get Marriage Records
The Marriage Department of the Bossier Parish Clerk of Court's office is charged with issuing marriage licenses to Bossier Parish residents and retaining records of marriages that were licensed by the office. Interested persons may obtain copies of marriage records by querying the office in person or via mail.
Both in-person and mail-in requests require that the requestor provide relevant information regarding the marriage, including the date and place it occurred, the full names (including maiden names) of the spouses involved, as well as the marriage certificate number (if known).

Where and how to get Birth and Death Records
The Louisiana Vital Records Registry process requests for records of births and death which occur in Bossier Parish, and in the State of Louisiana in general. As per state laws, birth and death records remain confidential until at least 100 and 50 years after it occurred respectively. Until then, these records are only available to specific persons including:
- The subject of the record
- Parents, spouses and close relatives of the subject (including their heir)
- A legal representative of the subject or any of the above-mentioned persons
- Persons who have been authorized by a legal order or subpoena.
